Zenith University College

ZUC Library is the law library of Zenith University College, built and maintained by the Faculty of Law for members of the College. Access runs on your ZUC365 account, so there is no second sign-in and no separate membership.

Per ardua ad astra.

What is inside

Three collections, one search across all of them.

A case, the section it turns on, the textbook that explains it and the lecture that covered it are one query apart, not four tabs apart.

CasesGhanaian judgments from the Supreme Court down, with the court, date and citation on each.
LegislationActs, constitutional instruments and subsidiary legislation, in full text.
E-LibraryTextbooks, readers and course materials for every faculty.

The assistant

Kuku answers from the library, and shows you where.

Ask in plain words. Kuku answers from the library first, and an answer drawn from the library arrives with the authority it came from, at the same weight as the answer itself. Anything Kuku adds from general knowledge is labelled as such and carries no library citation.

Is an appeal in Ghana a rehearing or a review?

An appeal is by way of rehearing. The appellate court may evaluate the entire record and substitute its own findings of fact, though it will be slow to disturb findings that turned on the credibility of a witness it did not see.

Built for reading

An hour with a judgment, not a minute with a dashboard.

Warm paper, a 66 character measure and real italics for case names. A second ground for the evening, because most of this reading happens off campus, on a phone, after work.

14An appeal is by way of rehearing. The appellate court is entitled to evaluate the whole record and draw its own inferences of fact.

15It follows that the learned trial judge was not entitled to treat the respondent's evidence as unchallenged merely because no witness was called in rebuttal.

Curated shelves

Put together by the people who set the exam.

Lecturers and librarians assemble shelves around a topic, so a student starts from a reading list rather than a blank search box. The three below are examples.

Land and property

Title, registration and customary tenure, with the leading Ghanaian authorities.

Constitutional review

Article 2 and article 130 jurisdiction, and how the Supreme Court exercises it.

Company law, Act 992

The 2019 Act, the cases decided under it and the provisions it repealed.
